A Note from Deanna

Happy Holidays! Just in time for New Year’s Resolutions, I have another aspect of the Law of Attraction to share with you…see my thoughts on Partnering With The Universe in today’s featured article.

We’re excited to be offering another Power Play Saturday workshop in Spokane on January 13th. Here’s what one participant said about her experience: “To change my life in one day for such a small registration fee? What a deal I got!" Don’t miss this unforgettable event. See the Resources section for all the details!

And finally…I want to hear your stories! We’re spreading the word about the Law of Attraction (LOA) and I need your help. I’m looking for your success stories about using the LOA for one of my new books, called Manifest This! Proof That the Law of Attraction Works and Practices for Making it Work For You. See the Feedback and Free stuff section for how you can contribute to this amazing new book!

Enjoy!

Ideas for a Wildly Fulfilling Life…
Partnering With The Universe

When we first were introduced to the Law of Attraction principles, my husband Michael and I started applying them to random health, business, and home goals, all with outstanding results. Every time we found ourselves in that pure state of positive energy, focusing with clear intention, and taking inspired action, what we desired seemed to magically come to pass.

To begin with, within a week of learning about the Law of Attraction, we sold our house, which had been on the market for over 6 months with no significant progress toward a sale. We had been considering taking it off the market because—truth be told—it was too hard to keep it impeccably clean for that long, when we discovered the Law of Attraction. I said, “What do we have to lose? Let’s give it a try on the sale of the house. Let’s envision our ideal buyer with the ideal purchase price and the ideal sales outcome in the next 2 weeks.” Michael agreed, and we set our intention. In just one week, we secured a nearly full-price offer on our house to a wonderful family that we knew would love the home as much as we did. “Cool,” we thought. “What’s next?”

We turned our focus toward the purchase of land for our new home. Due to the slow sale of our home, we previously had lost our option on two different parcels of land that we thought would be perfect for us, so we had stopped actively looking for a while. When we started looking again, we learned that there was simply nothing on the market even close to our specifications. So, we decided to just keep envisioning all of the aspects of our perfect parcel of land and have faith that we would find it in good time. Within just a couple of days of selling our home and focusing on finding the ideal new land, we stumbled across an unbelievable parcel in exactly the location and school district we wanted. It had glorious views, already had a well on it, and just happened to be the lowest priced lot in a high-demand area. We submitted an offer that day and secured the land, which was far more “perfect” than anything we had seen or bid on previously.

We began planning for the home itself, and through our wonderful friend and builder, unexpectedly linked up with the most incredible architect who designed our home for a fraction of the anticipated cost and who gladly pulled together every element we liked from nearly 20 house plans, resulting in the ideal plan for our dream home—all within our budget. By happenstance, we were also referred to a fabulous lender who not only approved our loan in record time but who also fast-tracked our closing so that we could leave on vacation comfortable that the land and home were ours. Things were good. And then came the real test.

We were within a week of closing on our new home and land when a huge payment came due for a substantial investment in our business. It was a larger sum of money than we had ever spent, and the need for it came at exactly the moment when cash flow was slow between projects and we were getting ready to close on our new home. We didn’t want to jeopardize the closing of our loan by maxing out our credit, even if it were only for a short time. We didn’t have a ready solution and we weren’t sure how to resolve this significant need. And, at the same time, I was faced with a barrage of deliverables for the new business venture and felt entirely overwhelmed. I figured it was time for a different approach to the situation.

I recalled being intrigued by an exercise I had read in a wonderful book called Ask and It Is Given, by Esther Hicks, and thought I’d give it a try. The exercise was called the “Place Mat” process, a strategy you can use when you are feeling overwhelmed and overburdened or unsure of how you will be able to manage everything you need to do. The instructions were to take out a large sheet of paper (like a placemat), and on one side list all of the things that you are committed to doing that day—the top tasks that you most want and need to do that day. On the other side of the paper, list all of the things you are asking the Universe to take care of for you.

Now this did sound just a bit “groovy” to me. I mean, last time I checked, the Universe was not on my payroll. And, as I recalled, the Universe had never left me an unexpected note on the kitchen counter saying “don’t worry about the so-and-so…I’ve taken care of it.” But, I was pretty convinced that this Law of Attraction stuff was working, so I figured it was worth a try. After all, since I didn’t have the time…nor the solution…for a number of things on my list, it seemed logical that if I wasn’t going to be able to accomplish it all anyway, why not take it off my list so I wouldn’t bathe myself in anxiety and compromise all of my other deliverables?

I started my list and, before long, I realized that I still had 20 things on my side of the paper and the Universe was only accountable for the laundry and cleaning the kitchen. Rest assured, I didn’t know how the Universe was going to accomplish even those two things, but I certainly knew that I didn’t have the time (much less the interest!) to take care of them myself. As I reflected, I also didn’t have time for a lot of the other things on my list, so I started getting ruthless.

I moved “call the architect and the builder” to the Universe’s side. I kept some travel arrangements I had committed to help my sister with, retained some key client correspondence, and then moved a few other miscellaneous tasks to the Universe’s side. This actually started feeling kind of good! Then I got to the “pay huge investment bill for the business this week.” I knew without a doubt that I didn’t have the money to pay this bill and didn’t anticipate sufficient cash flow for several weeks. And, though it might sound a bit jaded, I wasn’t sure that the Universe was just going to write a check for it or submit an earnest IOU on my behalf. But, since I didn’t see a way to resolve it that day, I figured it needed to go on the Universe’s list so that I would be able to focus on what I could do and what I needed to do that day.

I finished the list and got to work on my side of the deliverables. The travel arrangements and client correspondence cruised right along. Half way through my to-do list, both my architect and my builder called me out of the blue. Hmmm…a couple of points for the Universe. Then, I finished most of my tasks so quickly and efficiently, that I actually had time to breeze through the kitchen and laundry. Hmmm…even though I would have been more pleased to wave the magic wand and see these done, at least I was afforded a little extra time and energy to get these things done. Another point for the Universe (it would have been two, but I docked a point for having to personally endure loading the dishwasher).

At the end of the day, there was a lot more done on both my list and the Universe’s list than I would have thought possible. But a quick review reminded me that “pay huge investment bill” as still there like a flashing red light on the list. I started to feel a twinge of anxiety but quickly realized that I had committed to focusing on the result I wanted—sanity and efficiency today, and the huge bill paid somehow within the week. So, I figured that since I didn’t have an immediate resolution, I would release it for now and see what tomorrow would bring. And tomorrow brought an interesting turn of events.

Not 24 hours later, I received an unexpected call from my lender. “I have good news,” she said. “Your appraisal came in $40,000 over your purchase price for your home. That means you have built-in equity. Do you want to just use that equity for part or all of your down-payment?” I was stunned. 24 hours ago I had no idea how I was going to pay for this huge, unwieldy bill, and still have enough cash—and a steady credit history—for the closing on the house. Now I had access to far more financial resources than I needed. The down payment and financing were intact and I had access to all I needed to pay the mega-bill. I was elated. I looked at the list, with so many things crossed off of my side (from my own efforts) and from The Universe’s side (from a combination of factors that I really had no control over) and saw proof that the Law of Attraction not only works…sometimes it works wonders!

Give it a try. The next time you’re overwhelmed with too much to do, give the “Place Mat Process” a try. What do you have to lose? Better still…what do you have to gain?

Ideas for A Remarkably Successful Life…
Technology Treasures

I am beyond elated with a few of the new technology treasures I’ve been using.  I just had to share them with you.  These little gems have powered up my productivity in more ways than one.

1)   Microsoft’s “One Note” program.  My good friend, Tanya Harrison of Focused Elegance Photography turned me on to this fabulous software program.  Now most of you know that I’m no techie, to be sure, but this program is so intuitive and user-friendly that I immediately started singing its praises.  Basically, it helps you keep track of everything from project notes to grocery lists to research findings to meeting minutes and everything in between (even web pages and audio files!).  It’s revolutionized how I track all of the aspects of my business and my home life.  And the really great thing is that you can also get a free 60-day trial of the program, which you can download today by clicking here.

2)   PDF 995.  My very cool colleagues at Desautel Hege Communications once shared this great (and no-cost) solution for creating your own PDF files.  If you create documents that you want to share with others (and you want them to look like they did when you created them!), then PDF is the way to go.  Visit PDF995 for your free test-drive of this outstanding resource.  I certainly recommend the full version of this program, which only costs $19.95 (just to avoid the promotional pop-up windows), but you can absolutely use PDF995 without paying a cent.

3)   Fine Print.  If you print a lot of large documents, e-books, or reference material, Fine Print is the tool for you.  I learned about it through Bob Doyle’s fabulous Wealth Beyond Reason program and I was an immediate convert.  Among other things, Fine Print will print two pages of text on a single page, which saves tons of time (always a plus) and paper (be kind to the environment and it will be kind to us).  Check out the no-cost and full versions at Fine Print today.
